Casey Anthony and the Inconsistency of Public Outrage

By: Mike Strain - Stand True Missionary

The Casey Anthony trial has managed to keep the attention of millions of people, and rightfully so. I am a little bit late to hear about the case, as I have been traveling and working for Stand True, but this morning, reports of the trial were still on the news. For anyone who has not seen the articles, a 25-year-old Florida woman named Casey Anthony is charged with the murder of her two year old daughter, Caylee Anthony. Evidence has gone back and forth, and the mother has so far pleaded innocent, although the evidence seems relatively conclusive the other way.

The two-year-old was reported missing in 2008, and the remains were found in the woods in a plastic bag, close to the Anthony home. Chloroform and human decomposition samples were also found as evidence, as well as Google searches on Casey’s computer for “neck breaking”, “how to make chloroform”, and “death”. A CNN report stated that the child was found with duct tape traces over her mouth, and the residue of heart shaped stickers. This story is unbelievable and heartbreaking.

The general public has swarmed over this story, prying for every horrible and tragic detail, in an effort to know how a mother could do such a thing, especially to such a young and beautiful child. The details of the murder are unimaginable and grotesque. They seem quite surreal, coming from a young mother in a suburban Florida neighborhood. As a nation, we seem to ask: “What can cause someone to be so inhuman?”

I believe that the answer lies in a diary entry, written by Casey Anthony, that was dated June 21st, which is as follows, “I have no regrets, just a bit worried. I just want for everything to work out OK. I completely trust my own judgment and know that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means. I just want to know what the future will hold for me. I guess I will soon see – This is the happiest that I have been in a very long time. I hope that my happiness will continue to grow– I’ve made new friends that I really like. I’ve surrounded myself with good people– I am finally happy. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t change.” This does not seem like the diary of a woman who has just murdered her child, although it bears chilling similarity to the way that abortion is justified in this country.

How is it that we can obsess over the horror of the Casey Anthony trial and not see the parallels to abortion? There is national lament and outcry over the murder of a two year old, but thousands of unborn children are dismembered and thrown away every day through abortion, and our society turns a blind eye.

The inconsistency about infanticide is astounding. While still a senator, President Obama voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which stated that if a baby survived an abortion, it was illegal to kill it. Our President apparently believes that infanticide is permissible if an abortion was the original intent. This quite obviously did not make a big political impact, and his appalling vote on this bill took a back seat to the economy and job creation. However, if a mother kills her two-year-old daughter there is an entire month worth of news describing every little detail.

I don’t mean to downplay tragedy of the Casey Anthony case, but I can’t help but notice the inconsistency of public reaction, and the similarity of rationale for the act of murder. Abortion is often labeled as simply a personal choice, while the rights of the unborn are invisible and never mentioned. The chilling remark of “I made the right decision….This is the happiest I’ve been in a long time” is shockingly similar to the rhetoric that is thrown around by the pro-choice movement. I also don’t mean to say that every woman who has an abortion is exactly like Casey Anthony.

A huge amount of women are pressured, misled, and terribly misinformed about the true nature of abortion. However, it is inconsistent to state that Casey Anthony is a monster, and in the same breath affirm that abortion is morally equivalent to a appendectomy. I am heartbroken to hear about the trial, and anxiously looking to the conclusion. While I obviously don’t support her actions, I am praying that Casey Anthony will not get the death penalty. The death of a mother will not bring back her child. I also hope for more strict legislation in regards to paternal responsibility, and that the father of Caylee Anthony will also be held accountable for being absent in his daughter’s life.

With the trial in mind, I also pray that the thousands of mothers entering abortion clinics today will have their hearts and minds changed towards life, to embrace the beauty of the family or to create another family through adoption. Maybe one day there will be equal outcry for the victims of abortion as there is now for the death of a beautiful little girl.

Second Abortion Clinic Committed Illegal Dumping of Aborted Babies, Says Texas Authorities

From Operation Rescue:

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), has determined that a second Whole Women’s Health abortion clinic was illegally dumping the remains of aborted babies, this time at their clinic in Austin.
Whole Women’s Health is being charged with “Failure to prevent the disposal of treated fetuses at a municipal solid waste landfill” and “Failure to ensure that the labels placed on each medical waste container show the weight of the container.”

“Due to the apparent seriousness of the alleged violations, a formal enforcement action has been initiated,” stated a TCEQ Investigation Report dated June 3, 2011.

Operation Rescue conducted an undercover investigation of abortion clinics across Texas with the help of The Survivors. The investigation at the Austin clinic discovered and documented bloody items, including a blood-filled cannula used in abortions, in the clinic’s dumpster. Also discovered were documents containing the names and other information of abortion patients, constituting a violation of HIPAA privacy regulations.

“I am horrified at the blatant disregard for the law and lack of care for women who are obtaining abortions. Evidence gathered proves that abortion clinics throughout the state of Texas are unclean, unsafe, and their staff lack respect for women and their right to privacy,” said Ashley Colantuono of the Survivors, a key participant in the investigation.

According to the TCEQ report, the Texas Department of State Health Services continues to investigate the alleged privacy violations.

“The scandal involving abortion abuses and legal violations is beginning to spread. As the agencies conduct their own investigations, they are discovering more problems,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “As these investigations progress, we expect to see more penalties and disciplinary action.”

Also now under investigation is Stericycle, a national business that is frequently hired by abortion clinics to dispose of the remains of aborted babies and other biohazardous medical waste.

The report indicated that Stericycle picked up boxes containing aborted baby remains once a week from WWH of Austin. The contents were then autoclaved, or steamed, then dumped at the BFI Sunset Farms Landfill. However, by Texas law, aborted baby remains are considered “pathological waste,” something the Austin Stericycle Autoclave facility is not permitted to handle. Properly treated remains are required to be dumped in a special kind of landfill, not a municipal one like the BFI Sunset Farms facility.

Last week Operation Rescue was notified that the TECQ had found that Whole Women’s Health in McAllen had also violated the laws by dumping the remains of aborted babies in an open dumpster.

Penalties for the violations will now be determined by the enforcement branch of the TCEQ, and could include hefty fines.

Gas for Life

Gas for Life On June 20th five pro-life missionaries will start a two-month, 13,500 mile journey, crisscrossing the country between, Ohio, Florida, Seattle, Denver, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and many more stops in between. We will be proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and spreading the pro-life message along the way.

One of the biggest expenses we will have this summer is gas for the Stand True van and Trailer. It takes about $100 to fill the van and with the trailer that only gets about 250 miles per tank. This summer we will need approximately 54 tanks of gas to finish the Summer Mission Trip at a cost of $5,400.

Here is how you can help us reach our goal.

$100 buys a tank of gas – 250 miles

$75 buys ¾ of a tank of gas – 187.5 miles

$50 buys ½ of a tank of gas – 125 miles

$25 buys ¼ of a tank of gas – 62.5 miles

So every dollar equals 2.5 miles of our 13,500-mile mission trip.

Can you afford to buy a tank of gas to help us save babies and spread the Gospel of Christ? Maybe a half tank, quarter tank or even 5 tanks; what can do to make sure the Stand True Summer Mission Team stays on the road this summer.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow dehumanizes Attorney, Pro-life Speaker and Rebecca Kiessling, referring to her as “The rapist’s Child”

Attorney Rebecca Kiessling Responds to Attack from MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ – The following is submitted by Rebecca Kiessling Pro-life Speaker, Attorney:

Last night, Rachel Maddow went on a rant against my recent “Conceived in Rape Tour” for Personhood Mississippi. Once again, she ignorantly referred to children like me as being “the rapist’s child.”

First of all, I am not the rapist’s child! He doesn’t even know of my existence, as in most rape cases. And what an insult to the majority of rape victims who not only choose life for their child, but choose to raise their child — after everything they’ve been through, Maddow has the audacity to refer to the rape victim’s child as being “the rapist’s child”?! The ones who abort are four times more likely to die within the next year. If you truly have compassion for a rape victim, you’d want to protect her from the abortion and not the baby! A baby is not the worst thing that could ever happen to a rape victim — an abortion is.

To be pro-woman is to recognize that women are much stronger than they are given credit for, and to understand that a baby is not the scary enemy. No woman has to be afraid of a baby!

Rachel Maddow is the one who is extreme because she’s against the death penalty for rapists, but supports the death penalty for the innocent child who happened to be conceived in rape. That’s extreme! However, I did not miss the fact that she failed to mention that the “Conceived in Rape” tour involved a real human being — and I’m a woman no less!

My birthmother did not choose life for me. She chose abortion. But pro-life advocates in Michigan chose life for me by making sure abortion was illegal in Michigan, even in cases of rape. They are my heroes and I owe my life to them! My near-death experience is very real. I feel like I was saved from a burning building and as I have the opportunity to go back and save others, I most certainly will.

Despite wanting to abort me more than 4 decades ago, my birthmother is proud of me today, has shared her story alongside me, and is so thankful we were both protected from the abortion. I honor her and I bring her healing, which is why she and her husband legally adopted me last fall, 22 years from the day we met. But Rachel Maddow doesn’t have the heart to understand something so wonderful. She only pretends to care about women.

Man faces 20 years in prison for attempted murder of a fetus – Yet others pay to have their babies killed in same building

The Assiciated Press reports:
Ohio man faces 20 years in abortion-gunpoint case

By ANDREW WELSH-HUGGINS, AP Legal Affairs Writer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio judge is ready to sentence a man charged under a fetal homicide law for taking his pregnant girlfriend to an abortion clinic at gunpoint.

Dominic Holt-Reid pleaded guilty in April to attempted murder, weapons and abduction counts after police said he pulled a gun on his girlfriend in October and forced her to drive to the clinic.

He faces 20 years in prison at a hearing Thursday before Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Patrick Sheeran.

Holt-Reid’s girlfriend did not go through with the procedure but instead passed a note to a clinic employee, who called police.

She has since delivered a healthy baby.

Prosecutors charged Holt-Reid using a 1996 law that says a person can be found guilty of murder for causing the unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

Of course we are happy this man is going to prison but are dumbfounded that the very people who called the police would have been happy to kill the baby if the mom wanted that.  Just because the mother of a child decided she does not want a child does not give her the right to say that child is not a human person.  In order for this man to be charged with attempted murder, the child in the womb must be a human person.

While this clinic called the police on this man, they are happy to accept money from others to kill their children.  I only wish all the other children being murdered their were  able to hand a notes to someone pleading with them to call the police.

While the children in their mother’s wombs cannot plead for help, we can do so on their behalf.  We know that thousands of children will be taken into so called “clinics” like this every day; only to be taken out in a trash can.  We know it is happening and we have a responsibility to stand up and be a voice for them.

Stand True – Raise Your Voice.

What do you think? Man puts up billboard exposing ex-girlfriends abortion.

This is an interesting question for me to answer.  My gut reaction is good for this man to stand up and speak out against the killing of his child.  If someone was allowed to kill his three year old no one have a problem with him doing this and exposing that.

The issue of privacy does not hold water with me because I do not believe that the killing of innocent children should be allowed in the first place therefore there is no precedent.  I think this man has a right to be angry about the destruction of his child’s life, this is his way of venting.

I am not sure this is what I would have done if I was in this situation, but I don’t think I can say this is wrong. My first reaction is to say that I support this.

What do you think?

Channel 7 in Albuquerque reports:

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. – A New Mexico man’s decision to lash out with a billboard ad saying his ex-girlfriend had an abortion against his wishes has touched off a court battle over free speech and privacy rights.

The sign on Alamogordo’s main thoroughfare shows the 35-year-old man holding the outline of an infant. The text reads, “This Would Have Been A Picture Of My 2-Month Old Baby If The Mother Has Decided To Not KILL Our Child!”

The man’s ex-girlfriend has taken him to court for harassment and violation of privacy. A domestic court official has recommended the billboard be removed.

But the man’s attorney argues the order violates his client’s free speech rights.

The woman’s friends say she had a miscarriage, not an abortion.
