The Other Invisible Children – Kony is Alive In America Also

Image from http://carijean.hubpages.com/hub/Fetal-Rights-Protection-of-the-Unborn

I noticed that a lot of bands, individuals and organizations are getting involved to help bring the atrocities that are happening to these children to the light. Everyone is sharing this video on their facebook, tumbler, blog….. People are willing to go the extra mile to make sure everyone knows about the Stop Kony campaign. The video went viral and does not seem to be slowing down any time soon.

While I am in full support of the work being done for Invisible Children and would encourage everyone to take a look at the website, (www.invisiblechildren.com), I am somewhat confused.

I have approached many of these same people who are getting involved with Invisible Children about another horrible tragedy that sees thousands of little children brutally killed every day. I have told them about the almost 4,000 little babies that are ripped from the protection of their mother’s wombs on a daily basis in our own country. I have posted videos about the plight of these invisible children with nowhere near the same response from people.

From many of these people I have heard things like:

I don’t want to get involved with a political issue.

I know it is wrong but it is not for me to tell someone else what to do.

At least they won’t have to grow up in this world.

Abortion is inevitable, so we might as well keep it safe and legal.

We don’t know the parents’ situation; maybe they can’t afford a baby.

That is cool that you stand up, I just have other things I am called to do.

I don’t want to judge anyone.

The fetus is not “really” alive yet.

We just need to talk about Jesus, instead of political issues.

I can’t deal with abortion; it depresses me to think about it.

Abortion is too controversial; I don’t want to offend anyone.

I don’t believe in legislating morality.

These are actual excuses I have heard from people, and there are so many more I can list. When I say I have heard them from people I am also talking about people who claim to be pro-life or Christian, they just don’t want to be vocal about it.

The problem is that abortion is seen as controversial, and the Invisible Children project is not. For some reason Christians have developed an attitude that they can never offend people so we stay away from things we call “controversial issues”.

I say the only real controversy is that people who believe that every child is created by God and has value as a human person are silent. When we know that thousands of innocent human persons are being slaughtered every day in America and we choose to be silent, that is where the true controversy lies.

Since when is raising our voices to shed light on the plight of innocent children being systematically butchered, offensive?  Just because there are those who deny the abortion holocaust and claim that those being killed are not human, does not mean exposing the truth is offensive. I am sure that those who deny the Nazi Holocaust took place are offended when we show the truth of that tragedy. The fact that they are offended in no way can justify that we stop showing the truth; in fact it makes it more important for us to show the truth.

I would also say it is offensive to God that we would turn our backs on His precious little children because we don’t want to be political. While there are many aspects to standing up for life that fall into the political arena, the bloodshed of over 55 million children since January 22, 1973 is not a political issue, it is a life and death issue.

Abortion is a hidden crime that takes place behind closed doors and we seem to want to keep it that way. Our silence has helped energize the abortion industry and helped them to steer their rhetoric to convince people that it is inevitable, so we might as well accept it.

I cannot and will not ever accept that the killing of an innocent child is inevitable. I cannot and will not ever say that we cannot make a change in this world and bring a stop to the holocaust that is killing over 1/3 of our generation. I cannot and will not ever believe that the killing of a child can be safe and should be legal.

If you think this is a pointless battle and that we can never win, I ask you, “How big is your God”? It amazes me some times that people think that we can’t accomplish things. Through Christ we can accomplish anything. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

I know that this may make you feel uncomfortable and if you are one of those who have given an excuse as to why you can’t take a stand or be a voice, it should. When people challenge society with things like the Invisible Children film it is meant to get us out of our comfort zones, and make us realize that we must take action.

Christ tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves, and when we know our neighbor is in danger we have an obligation to stand up. He taught us in the parable of the Good Samaritan that our neighbor is not just the person who lives next door. Our neighbor is our fellow human person. The priest and the rabbi walked by the man in the ditch and ignored the plight of their neighbor. The Good Samaritan stopped and loved his neighbor. He did not stop and ask God if he was called to a ditch ministry, he simply helped his neighbor because he knew we are all called to do so.

The Invisible Children are our neighbors and it is our duty to be a voice for them. The other invisible children, the ones who die by the thousands every day in America are also our neighbors and we have a duty to be a voice for them as well.

It is time we as believers realized the only true controversy about abortion is our silence. If we believe that the children in their mother’s wombs are children, there is no excuse for silence. While the world may try to smother us with their rhetoric about “choice” we must hold firm to the truth. The truth is that God is the creator of every single human person, and He commands us not to commit murder.

I want you to think about your reaction to what happened on 9/11. Think about what went through your mind, what your feelings were when you saw the carnage of the attacks. Remember the overwhelming feelings you may have had that day. We as a nation saw thousands of people die in one day and we reacted. We poured our hearts out and did so much to help as we were confronted with a horrible evil. We saw the truth and had to do something about it

More people die from abortion every day in this nation, than the number of people who died in the attacks on 9/11. Why are we not overwhelmed by this evil? Why is it not registering that what takes place in abortion mills around the country is not just as horrific?

Maybe it is because we have allowed it to remain invisible.

“If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small. Deliver those who are drawn toward death, And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,’ Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” (Prov. 24:10-12)

Pro-life Student Group Arrested And Being Held In Jail For Practicing Free Speech – Story and Pics Here.

Members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour were arrested yesterday during a lawful pro-life outreach at a public high school. It does not matter whether you agree with using graphic abortion images or not, this is a violation of their civil rights and an attack on free speech.

The Survivors was founded by Jeff White who is also my mentor and the co-founder of Rock for Life with me. Jeff is the reason I started in full time pro-life work almost 20 years ago; he is an inspiration to so many young pro-lifers. The Survivors is truly one of the most important youth pro-life organizations in the world. These are my roots.

As Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life, my job is to help educate, activate and equip young people to be a voice for life in this culture of death. When courageous young people like the Survivors are arrested for standing up for life and practicing free speech we must be outraged. We at Priests for Life stand by the Survivors, they are an inspiration to young pro-lifers around the world.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life said, “Those who are persecuting these brave young pro-life activists are cowards, and a good example of what is wrong in our culture today. I consider the Survivors to be a movement within the pro-life movement, inspiring all of us to give ourselves more generously  for the unborn. Sometimes that means arrest and prison, not for doing wrong, but for standing up against wrongdoing.”

Here are the reports coming in from the Survivors Facebook Page and some action items you can do to help these young, brave pro-life warriors. We will keep adding updates as they come in.

BREAKING NEWS: Survivors arrested in Jackson, Mississippi! The Campus Life Team were arrested for standing on a public sidewalk in front of Murrah High this afternoon. Moments after arriving at the campus to share the message of Life, Kristina Garza and Brianna Baxter were handcuffed and taken to the county jail while two more members had their signs and lit taken from them and were forced across the street. Please pray as the Survivors continue standing for their first amendment rights in this situation! We will keep you updated.

URGENT REQUEST: The Survivors are STILL being punitively held at the Hinds County Jail. At this point, Jackson will probably attempt to hold them overnight. Do you want to help the Survivors? Call the Hinds County Jail booking office RIGHT NOW and ask that the Survivors be released! Call 601-857-4800, ask for Deputy Williams (booking Deputy).

LOCAL NEWS: As quoted in this news article from WAPT, the superintendent of Jackson Public Schools and local law enforcement say they had “no recourse but to arrest the demonstrators,” claiming the Survivors were trespassing and creating a safety issue. The Survivors were on a PUBLIC SIDEWALK when they were arrested, peacefully handing out literature and holding signs. Murrah, the only safety issue we see is your administration endangering our right to freedom of speech.

KEEP THE CALLS GOING! Survivors have just found out that Jackson PD is holding the team because the Campus Enforcement will not release the paperwork. The more calls coming into the booking office, the faster they will move to get that paperwork! PLEASE CALL 601-857-4800, request to speak with Deputy Williams (booking deputy), ask him why they haven’t released the young pro-lifers arrested early this afternoon!

UPDATE: Jackson PD kept Kristina Garza and Brianna Baxter in the county jail all night after unlawfully arresting them yesterday afternoon for “disorderly conduct” and “interfering with a bus driver.” BOTH FALSE CHARGES. The Survivors were handing out literature on a public sidewalk — an activity that is well within their rights as citizens and which poses no danger to anyone around them. Kristina and Brianna will go before the judge at 9 AM this morning. PLEASE KEEP THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS!

Update 10:25 AM Both Kristina and Brianna are being held on $2000 bonds each. They were not put on the court docket today but the rest of the team is trying hard to get them added to this afternoon’s docket.  Please pray that they get in front of a judge this afternoon and do not have to spend anymore time behind bars.

Update 2:30 PM Both Kristina and Brianna are being RELEASED! The judge has decided to release both of the Survivors, trusting them to show back up for a court hearing on April 6th. We are praying that the charges are dropped before that date.

Update: 6:30 PM Here is the official press release and video of the arrests:

Pro-Life Youth Arrested for Peaceful Free Speech Activity on Public Sidewalk

Life Legal Defense Foundation Defends Activists in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss., March 7, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — Yesterday, two college-age members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour were arrested on a public sidewalk outside of Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi, while distributing literature to students in front of the campus.

The group of pro-life youth activists first attempted to hold signs, distribute literature, and peacefully dialogue with students on the public sidewalk on Monday. Jackson School Police Officers immediately confronted the group and moved their signs across the street, sequestered students back inside the school grounds, and ordered students not to take the literature being handed out or speak with the demonstrators. The police claimed that the sidewalk belonged to the school and that they had a right to remove the pro-life activists. At the same time, the Survivors observed that the same sidewalk they were denied access to was being used by passersby and joggers.

After conferring with their attorneys from the Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF), the Campus Life Team returned to the public sidewalk in front of Murrah High School yesterday. When the police told the activists to leave the sidewalk or go to jail, Kristina Garza and Brianna Baxter remained, and were immediately arrested.

“Law enforcement officers and officers of the court are charged with protecting our civil liberties, but in this case they are intentionally conspiring to subvert the legal process and deny these pro-life advocates their right to due process of law,” said Dana Cody, executive director of Life Legal Defense Foundation. “Rest assured, everyone involved in the miscarriage of justice will be held accountable for their misdeeds.”

Here is a photo of the girls in court.

Here are the other members of the Survivors Team praying outside the courthouse for the two still in custody.

Here are some of the pics from the event including arrests. Go to the Survivors Facebook page for more photos, don’t forget to like their page and show them your support.

I’m Against Abortion, but… – A response to the nonsensical excuse given by many

I wrote this in 2009 and am rereleasing it as I have heard this too many times this year.

I’m against abortion, but…

I think the statement that bugs me most when talking to people about abortion is, “I’m against abortion, but…” I can actually respect someone’s total pro-abortion position more than someone who tells me, “I’m against abortion, but…” It just makes no sense to me at all; how can they be against something as vile and deadly as abortion and have a “but”?

My first response to them is always to ask them first why they are against abortion. What is it about abortion that would make you start your statement with “I’m against abortion”?

It amazes me when they start telling me how killing a baby is so wrong, life is so precious and we should respect it, and babies are innocent and don’t deserve to die. It would seem they have a firm grasp on the pro-life perspective, but. There it is, that little three-letter word that destroys the very foundation of what they just explained to me.

I am boggled at how in one breath you can call killing a baby murder and in the next breath you can justify this murder because you don’t want to tell others what to do. I cannot fathom how someone can say that life is precious and should be protected then turn around and support “the choice” to destroy that very life.

I have said this in past commentaries and I will say it again; this is why people can add the word “but” into a sentence about being against abortion. The problem is we are allowing abortion to fall into a different category than every other act of homicide. But abortion is not a different act; it is a different method of the act of homicide. It is still one person killing another person. Therefore, if we would feel compelled to take action to stop acts of homicide such as those in Darfur, the Congo or anywhere else, shouldn’t we also take action to stop the acts of homicide that take place in abortion clinics?

So many are refusing to take action because they have been able to infuse the word “but” in order to free themselves of the responsibility of standing against evil. As long as that they can insert that word, they can deflect or hide from the truth that is staring them in the face: innocent little babies are being destroyed.

Let’s play a game I like to call “ridiculous analogies”. In this game, I switch the word abortion for some other grave evil and see if you can justify a way to insert the word “but” into the sentence.

1. I am against child molestation, but…

2. I am against what happened to the Jews during the Nazi Holocaust, but…

3. I am against men beating their wives, but….

4. I am against slavery, but…

5. I am against rape, but…

Can you think of any situations where you can use the word “but” to justify any of these evil, deplorable actions? How about this:

A. I am against slavery, but who am I to tell someone else they can’t own slaves?

B. I am against rape but who am I to take away a man’s right to choose?

I hope you find these last two sentences make you cringe with disgust. That is the same way I feel when I hear someone say, “I am against abortion, but…”

Abortion is the act of destroying the life of an innocent human being and there is just no justification for committing this act of homicide. Just as justifying exceptions for these other horrifying acts is unthinkable, so should justifying the act of killing babies.

I truly believe that if the majority of people who claim to be against abortion (with a “but” or not) would start acting the same way we would if something like slavery was suddenly made legal again, we would see an end to the slaughter of the innocents.

When I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau, a concentration camp in Poland, I stood outside the gas chambers for some time. I had just gone through most of the camp and was emotionally wrecked, to say the least. As I stood outside this building, I was looking at houses in the distance and wondering what I would have done if I lived in those houses during the time of the Nazi Holocaust. Would I have stood up and taken action, or would I have found a way to insert the word “but” into any statement I made about the mass killing taking place in my back yard?

What I realized is that I do live in those houses; there is a mass killing taking place in my back yard. There in another holocaust taking place to which I must decide how I will respond. There is a holocaust taking place in all our back yards as almost 4,000 people are killed every day in our cities and towns.

I want you to all imagine what it would be like to have a house right next to a concentration camp in Poland during the Nazi Holocaust; would you have used the word “but”? Even more important, knowing that you do have a holocaust happening in your own back yard right now, how will you respond? Will you stand up, or will you find a way to say “but…?”

What An Abortionist Does – Facebook censors pro-life image, allows DIY abortion instructions which encourage women to lie to Pharmacists

Facebook censors pro-life image, allows DIY abortion instructions which encourage women to lie to Pharmacists

Facebook has apologized for censoring a post by Dr. Rebecca Gomperts in which she gave instructions for a do-it-yourself chemical abortion. The popular social media site decided it was OK for the international abortion provider to teach women and girls how to do an abortion themselves at home using Misoprostol, even telling them to lie to a pharmacist to get the necessary drugs.

But Facebook has removed a graphic that shows the aftermath of an abortion: An eight-week fetus torn limb from limb and decapitated.
This week, Bryan Kemper, Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life, and Andy Moore of abortionwiki.org created a version of the popular “What They Think I Do” graphic that have been going viral on Facebook. Their graphic was entitled “Abortionist,” and the final frame was a photo of a baby killed in an early abortion.

This image received thousands of shares and comments in a matter of hours. But this morning, Kemper found a message from Facebook explaining that the image was removed, and ordering him to remove it from any other place he had posted it on the site.

“It amazed me,” said Kemper; “Facebook will allow girls to learn how to do an abortion themselves at home with no doctor’s supervision, and encourages them to lie when obtaining the drugs necessary. But they will not allow them to see what an abortion looks like.

“I guess it is only considered censorship if you censor the pro-choice side; it’s perfectly fine in our culture to censor the pro-life message.”
Kemper has posted the image on his website at http://bryankemper.com/2012/02/15/abortionist/ and has given permission for anyone to repost it on their blogs or websites.

He also is urging all pro-lifers to contact Facebook to protest the site’s lopsided censorship. https://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=ui_other

“I have long said that America will not end abortion until it sees abortion,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “But those who support and profit from abortion work very hard to make sure America does not see abortion.”

“This year’s Stand True Summer Mission Trip brought us news of babies rescued, hearts turned to Christ and children adopted because of the work of Stand True.”

As you can see by the title of this story, we have had a fruitful Mission Trip this summer. What makes this fruit so sweet that it not just stories about what God did this year; we also have some amazing stories about fruit from past mission trips that we are just learning about.

Last week was our final music festival of the summer: Purple Door Arts and Music Festival. I was sitting behind the booth when a couple approached me and asked if I was Bryan Kemper (something that actually happens often). The woman then explained to me that she heard me speak at a music festival 12 years ago and it inspired her to want to get involved with pro-life. I was not prepared for what happened next.

She shared with me that I talked about adoption and she thought that was a great way for her to get involved and do her part. She then introduced me to her husband and her adopted child who she adopted from a woman who was going to have an abortion. The tears welled up in my eyes as I got to see this precious child whose life was spared and who was adopted into a loving family partially because of words I spoke at a festival 12 years ago.

A week before this our team was up in the mountains of New Hampshire at another festival called Soulfest, which has shown fruit almost every year we have been there. One of the coolest things that always seems to happen at Soulfest is that I end up talking to post-abortive women who have not been able to forgive themselves or accept forgiveness from God.

This year it was a young teenage girl who bared here heart to me about making a mistake that she knew was wrong. She struggled with not believing God really forgave her no matter how much she repented. I shared with her about how God says in His Word that He throws our sins are far as the east is from the west; that He washes us white as snow. To see the smile on this girl’s face as she was able to accept that she is forgiven and that God has made her whole again was priceless.

Just two weeks before Soulfest in New Hampshire, we were on the opposite coast in the Pacific Northwest at Creation Festival West. My first time at Creation Festival West with Stand True was two years ago when it was held at the Columbia River Gorge; now it is near Mt Rainer.

While I was getting ready to pack up the booth on the last night, a man approached me in a crowd; he asked if I was Bryan Kemper (I told you I get this a lot, and it often times comes with a cool story like this). I said yes and he then proceeded to tell me a story about three girls I had talked to two years back at the Gorge. When he described them as three pro-choice atheists I knew exactly whom he was talking about; it was a conversation I do remember. He then told me that after I talked with these girls they began to think about what I said and all three of them have now given their lives to Christ. He also explained that one of them got pregnant and because our talk she decided not to abort her child and gave her child the gift of life.

I will be honest, as I type out the stories I get pretty emotional and even get teary-eyed; my wife teases me about being the emotional sap of the family. I am proud to wear the badge of sap if it means I can hear more stories like these; I welcome the tears as I think about what God is doing with this ministry.

What next? How you can help us continue to see this fruit.

The van is unpacked, the tubs are emptied, the shelves are somewhat restocked and the team has all headed back to school or home. To honest the office is quiet and lonely with out the mission team, and I miss them immensely. I also know that God is using them back home and I am excited to see what is next in their lives and how they will bless the pro-life movement.

I have hundreds of hours of catching up to do, as I have not been in the office for more that a couple of days in since June. The Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity is just around the corner, the March for Life Berlin is in just a few weeks, the launch of Stand True West Coast is happening as I type this e-mail and that is just scratching the surface of what we have to get accomplished this fall.

Right now we need your support urgently as we want to jump right into our fall projects. While the Summer Mission Trip is fruitful, it also takes every bit of money we have and we have a lot of resources we need to replenish.

Please consider giving a donation as we commit to carry on the hard work we did all summer into the fall season. Your donation today will ensure that I can continue to share amazing stories of babies rescued, hearts turned to Christ and this generation bringing and end to the culture of death.

Your donation of $25, $35, $50, $100 or any amount will guarantee we can complete all of the fall projects. We must raise at least $3,500 this month to catch up on the bills and launch our fall projects.

Lived through a tornado? Who needs water, Planned Parenthood of Joplin, MO will give you free birth control and abortions.

In 2001 Planned Parenthood of NYC offered free abortions to women who lost a husband or boyfriend in the attacks on 9/11.  What a wonderful sentiment to send to grieving women; (Lost your husband? Let us kill his child for free).

Planned Parenthood of Joplin, MO is following suit and offering their services for free to victims of the Tornado.

The Joplin independent reports:

Planned Parenthood, 710 Illinois Ave., Joplin, is providing free medical services throughout the month of June. Included in the offering of a variety of health services for both men and women are distribution of free reproductive medications, blood pressure testing, diabetes and cholesterol screening and other reproductive health services.

I still cannot understand why Planned Parenthood is so shy about using the word abortion if they are so proud of being the largest abortion provider in the nation.  Why hide abortion under the guise of “other reproductive services” if there is nothing wrong or shameful about it? This proves that we are winning the battle of public perception and shows me that we need to press even harder. Undercover stings like those of Live Action are working; the Stand True Summer Mission Trip is having the effect we are educating this nation about the ugly truth of what abortion is.

While the Planned Parenthood in Joplin does not actually perform surgical abortions, they most certainly refer and send women to other Planned Parenthood offices. Planned Parenthood of Joplin does however give out the Morning After Pill which does kill children by preventing implantation.

Especially during crises, the agency believes that it is important that women maintain their birth control…

Yepp, that is what these people need more than food, water, shelter and clothing; they need condoms and the pill. To quote Seth Myers and Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live, “Really”.  Really Planned Parenthood? Free birth control and abortion for people who are suffering, hungry, thirsty and traumatized sounds like such a wonderful community service.  Killing children is not heath care and it is certainly not disaster relief.

I have an idea. Lets take the 350 million dollars in taxpayer money from Planned Parenthood and send that to Joplin, MO for some relief that actually need. It makes me sick that our government can continue to keep the blinders on their eyes as Planned Parenthood wreaks havoc on America.

Really? Planned Parenthood, Really?

On a positive note Lifenews.com is reporting about LifeChoices Medical Clinic in Joplin that is offering some actual relief items for victims.

“Through it all, Angel said that LifeChoices was becoming a center of help for the neighborhood… handing out baby supplies: clothes, diapers, food, wipes, etc,” Massey said. “When I asked her what we could do to help, she said two things, “Donate baby supplies or help us financially purchase the items to help the young families.”

Why did 52 college students start walking across North America on Saturday?

For most college students this week will be spent either finding or starting a summer job to earn some extra money.  Some students will be heading off to Europe to see the world while other will just lay down on a couch and play video games for a couple of months.

So why did these 52 students decide to spend their summer walking over 20 miles a day, sleeping in an old RV and eating peanut butter and jelly or donated food? What would make them give up a chance to earn money, see the world or just relax during their summer break?

On Saturday morning these 52 college students gathered in four locations on the west coast to begin a journey of sacrifice and prayer; a true mission of social justice. These students have one very special thing in common; their hearts have been broken for the innocent children whose lives are being taken in the abortion holocaust.

The Crossroads Pro-life Walk across America was founded in 1995, just 2 years after I founded Rock for Life.  This was an exciting time in America as many youth pro-life groups were starting across the country.  The youth pro-life revolution was taking shape as the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. was starting to look younger and younger every year.

Since the summer of 1995 faithful pro-life students have gathered every summer to spend their summer walking from coast to coast, praying and witnessing along the way.  The walkers wear a simple shirt with a giant PRO-LIFE printed on the front; a simple but effective message.

The walkers have had some of the greatest times of intimacy with God as they spend their days in prayer. They have seen hearts change and lives saved as they interact with curious people along the back roads of America.  This is more than just college kids walking across the country, it is a spiritual and life changing journey for all those involved.

Every summer I take the Stand True Summer Mission Team on a different journey as we reach out to young people at music festivals around the country and I have been privileged to have former Crossroads walkers join me several times. I am always so amazed by the magnitude of character and commitment to the mission they have. I truly believe the world is a better place because of Crossroads; not just because of what they will accomplish this summer but what they will do for the rest of their lives.

I am committed to praying for these courageous young people this summer and I hope you will join me.  The Stand True Summer Mission Team may be riding in a van instead of walking all summer, but we stand in solidarity with the Crossroads mission team. We know that the work we do this summer will have a long lasting affect for decades to come.

You can see the routes that the Crossroads mission teams are taking at http://www.crossroadswalk.org. Please check out the web site to see if the team will be coming near your town. They could always use water, food or just encouragement.

For Christ I stand,

Bryan Kemper
